Bob stoops home

Bob stoops home, Oklahoma Sooners head football coach Bob Stoops is used to making headlines in Norman, Okla., but this time it has nothing to do with what happened on the field, as his home was reportedly burglarized early Wednesday morning.

Several members of Stoops' family were home at the time, but they were sleeping. Luckily, nobody was hurt as family members weren't even aware of what had happened until they woke up later in the morning, according to Trotter.

The family just moved into the home last year, according to David Ubben of ESPN.com. It is unclear if Stoops himself was present at the time of the burglary, as he and Oklahoma quarterback Blake Bell were in Wichita, Kan., for an event earlier in the night.

While it's unfortunate that the Stoops family had some possessions stolen, it's certainly great news that everyone came out of the ordeal unscathed. Now the focus will shift toward Norman police finding the person or people responsible for the crime.

This is just the latest piece of negative news to come out of Oklahoma over the past month, as tornadoes recently rocked the state, according to FOX News.

Stoops was one of the many citizens who helped in the cleanup during the aftermath of the tornadoes. According to Oklahoma University senior associate athletics director Kenny Mossman, Stoops arrived at a site to aid in the recovery efforts unannounced.

It is unclear if those responsible for the burglary knew that the house belonged to Stoops, but it's probably a pretty well-known fact that Stoops has a new house in Norma

Hopefully this situation is resolved quickly and successfully because Stoops has a college football season to worry about.

The Sooners open at home against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on Aug. 31 and are in search of their ninth Big 12 title under Stoops.

While Oklahoma hasn't won a National Championship since 2000, the Sooners have reached double-digit wins in 11 of Stoops' 14 seasons. Oklahoma is ranked just 19th heading into the season according to Sporting News, but they are always in the mix and figure to be a factor.

It's obviously tough to gauge how intangibles will impact a season, but the Oklahoma tornadoes brought the community together, so perhaps it will bring the Sooners together as well.

Stoops has gone through some difficult times as of late with the tornadoes and burglary taking place within a month, so look for his players to rally around him.

Stoops is beloved in Oklahoma, so the fans will support him regardless.

As for those responsible for burglarizing his home, they could be in dire straits, as there is no question that local law enforcement will do everything in its power to gain justice on behalf of Stoops.
