Joe Torre daughter

Joe Torre daughter, Joe Torre's daughter was able to follow in her father's footsteps and make a life-saving catch when a child fell out of a New York City building, reports state. Cristina Torre, 44, caught the 1-year-old boy as he fell off the awning of his building.

"The woman caught the baby," eyewitness Kristen Bramsen told the New York Daily News. "The baby was shaken. Everyone was going up to the woman and hugging her. I hugged her."

The child apparently crawled out of his apartment window onto the fire escape. He then fell from the escape at the exact moment Torres was biking in the area. She was able to catch the child before he hit the pavement and be seriously, or fatally, injured.

"I just put out my arms when I saw him coming down, and luckily he landed straight in my arms on his back," Torre told ABC News.

He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treated for lacerations to his face. The boy's three siblings, ages 2, 3, and 5, were taken into custody by the Administration for Children's Services. His parents, Sam Miller and Tiffany Demetria, were arrested and face charges of endangering the welfare of a child and child neglect.
"Miller is not very nice, I'll tell you that," neighbor Tom Abrahams told the Daily News. "I keep away from him. He's been nasty to me at times."

"I am very proud of my daughter Cristina's actions today during an incident in Brooklyn involving a small child," Joe Torre said in a statement. "Fortunately for that child, she was in the right place at the right time to lend a hand."

During his career, Torre netted four World Series titles, six American League pennants, and managed the New York Yankees for 11 years. He retired after the 2010 season and now works as executive vice president of baseball operations for Major League Baseball.
