Rihanna, Chris Brown back together, BCC News reports Topshop lawsuit
Rihanna, Chris Brown back together, BCC News reports Topshop lawsuit, Well Rihanna does not want anyone jeopardizing her public image. According to a July 16 E! News report, the singer is suing Topshop for $5 million for the unauthorized use of her photograph. The image which was shot during a video shoot in Northern Ireland for one of her singles was being used on a Topshop t-shirt under the name, “Rihanna Tank.”
BBC News reports that the store misled fans and may have damaged her reputation because the picture on the t-shirt is “very similar” to images usedrihanna-chris-brown-grammys on one of the singer’s CD – “Talk That Talk – album sleeve. According to Rihanna’s legal team, sales of the shirt lead her fans to believe the garment is “genuine” merchandise endorsed by the star.
Topshop lawyers counter Rihanna’s claim with arguments that the pop star is unjustifiably trying to establish a “free standing image right” over use of her picture in the United Kingdom. Court records allege that following Rihanna’s challenge of the use of her image on the shirts, Topshop dropped the singer’s name off the t-shirts and renamed them Headscarf Girl Tank, before settling on Icon Tank.
Further, Topshop maintains that Rihanna’s claims have not stopped the singer’s entourage from calling retailers and “asking for products for her to wear” half a dozen times since she filed the lawsuit. Evidence in the lawsuit indicates that Topshop bought a license to use the image from the photographer who took it. With all that drama Rihanna still has found time to reconnect with Chris Brown. Yes the RnB prince Chris Brown is back in the picture. We can only hope Rihanna doesn’t fall prey to Chris Brown trifling ways again. In all Rihanna deserves better then someone like Chris Brown.
