Shia Labeouf :Warned Us About the NSA Spying Already in 2008, Shia LaBeouf warned us all about the government's spying tendencies long before Edward Snowden leaked NSA documents detailing its Internet surveillance program last week.
The actor appeared on "The Tonight Show" in 2008 to promote his thriller "Eagle Eye" about a woman who uses technology to track his every move. In preparing for the film, LaBeouf said he met with an FBI consultant who told him about the government's secret wiretaps.
"I remember we had an FBI consultant on the picture telling me that they can use your ADT security box microphone to get your stuff that's going on in your house," LaBeouf told host Jay Leno. "He told me that 1 in 5 phones calls which you make are recorded and logged and I laughed at him and then he played back a phone conversation I had two years prior to joining the picture."
