Dan snyder redskins, In his fifth career NFL start, Robert Griffin III was knocked out of Washington’s game vs. the Atlanta Falcons in the third quarter with a mild concussion. While it wasn’t one of his best performances, the contest was notable due to Griffin’s choice of footwear, a pink pair of cleats he donned as part of the league’s breast cancer awareness campaign.
Those shoes surfaced at a charity luncheon Wednesday honoring Tanya Snyder, the wife of Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder, that benefited the American Cancer Society. They were quickly the hit of the event, selling for $15,000.
The man willing to write that check was Gerald Haddock, a real estate investor from Fort Worth, Texas.
“My family loves the Snyders,” he explained to me. “We love doing something for the organization. It’s not about the shoes, but it is about honoring them and the organization. And Robert Griffin. Robert Griffin means as much to us in Texas and to the people who supported him at Baylor, as he does to the family of Washington. And so it’s really a combination of all those things.”
Haddock told the site that he will keep the shoes in the corner of his office that contains an “RGIII wall” and includes numerous other souvenirs from Griffin’s college and pro career.
