Pope John Paul II to be sainted: Pope Francis to support sainthood

Pope John Paul II to be sainted: Pope Francis to support sainthood, Is Pope John Paul II to be sainted at last? That is indeed the case this week, CNN confirmed this Friday, July 5. Pope Francis has decided to sign the official decree this morning, say Vatican officials, which will begin the final process to enable the beloved Pope John Paul II to be canonized as a saint of the Catholic Church.

The late Pope John Paul II will be receiving his sainthood (as is often the case) posthumously, with Pope Francis clearing the way for the former Catholic leadership successor to be sainted. As one of the most beloved and popular pontiffs, John Paul served for decades in his religious role, serving from 1978 to 2005 (the date of his death).

Literally thousands of people flocked to St. Peter’s Square after Pope John Paul II’s the death, chanting for his sainthood right then and there. The late pontiff was almost immediately on the “fast-track” for sainthood, and was named “the blessed” only six years after his passing, a modern record.

Now, the Vatican has confirmed that the question, “is Pope John Paul II to be sainted?” has been answered at last. With support from Pope Francis, he will be declared a saint of the Catholic Church, though no official date or time has been given as to when his ceremony of canonization may be.

From his goodness to his love of travel, Pope John Paul II will no doubt be remembered for many other things (not only his sainthood) for many years to come.

Are you equally excited about the Pope John Paul II to be sainted headline? Do you agree with Pope Francis and the Vatican that it was finally time to canonize the popular and long-serving late leader of the Catholic Church?
