Tugboat Accident Yields a Casualty in Minnesota, 22-Year-Old Crew Member Dies, Officials have recovered the body of a worker on a tugboat, who died when the vessel capsized in Minnesota.

WXOW relayed a statement by Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand, clarifying that the tugboat rotated after passing Lock and Dam No. 7 on Wednesday morning, July 3. It was 6:15 a.m. when the boat went over Dam No. 7.

“Everyone did a great job, and we did the best we could as quickly as we could with the manpower that we had.

"Many departments were involved and everyone did a great job and we did the best we could, as quickly as we could with the manpower that we had," Brand explains.

A diver team from the Brennan Marine were called in to rescue three people that were still on the sunken boat. More than six people were called in to search for the third crew member.

The remains of 22-year-old Tyler Trussoni of Genoa were recovered on the tugboat at 3:15 p.m., Brand details.

He was still wearing a life jacket when he was found on the second deck of the Megan McB.

"When we were able to get the dive team out, one diver did go in and the deceased 22-year-old male, not the top floor but the second floor down and he was in there and he did have a life jacket on," Brand says.

The Sheriff' Office dive team could not enter the boat because it was too dangerous.

"We did not go inside the tug boat because its full of water. [...] It's on it's side and we didn't want to send any divers in there at this point because it's took risky for our divers," Brand says.

He adds that the two rescued people have sustained non-life-threatening wounds. They have been transported to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
