Two Texas A&M football players accused of assault

Two Texas A&M football players accused of assault, A pair of starters in Texas A&M's secondary are accused of participating in an April assault, per The Eagle. Free safety Floyd Raven Sr. turned himself in to police while cornerback Deshazor Everett, who made one of the most critical plays of the Aggies' season last year, is reportedly aware of a warrant out for his arrest.

The players each face two charges of assault as well as a charge of criminal mischief for an April 30 incident. They allegedly hit two men at a College Station apartment complex, and also allegedly "pounded and kicked" a truck at the scene of the crime, causing $500 in damages.

Everett was a key factor at cornerback throughout the 2012 season, notably intercepting an A.J. McCarron goal-line pass on fourth down with less than two minutes left to seal the Aggies' huge win over Alabama, the only loss of the year for the eventual national champs. He also returned an interception for a touchdown to tie for the team lead with two picks, and was expected to play a big role again as a junior.

Raven was not as prolific a player for the Aggies, but played in every game and had an interception in the regular season finale against Missouri. He was listed as a starter on the team's spring depth chart. He's expected to be released on $4,000 bail after turning himself in.

The assault charges against the players could carry up to a year in jail time.
