Target Price Match, arget stores have announced that they will now match online store prices for the Holiday season.Wal-Mart shoppers are well aware that they can get a price match guarantee. The chain has advertised the policy for years, often using it to gain an edge over their competitors. But what some consumers may not know is that Target has a very similar policy.
Like its competitors, Target will honor a price match if customers bring in a local ad that shows an identical item for a cheaper price. For some, that may be news enough. But the store has gone even further this holiday season.
A recent company announcement has revealed that Target stores will now offer online price matching for the holiday season. The period of the offer will only run from November 1 to December 16, but could still serve as great motive for customers to shop in store.
The online price match will include stores such as Amazon.com in addition to retail online stores like walmart.com and even their own, online site.
The move was announced by CEO Gregg Steinhafel at a media event Tuesday in New York City.
Steinhafel stated that the strategy would prove Target's ability to offer an "exceptionally competitive on price."
Target is also one of the few stores available on Apple's new iOS 6 Passport app. The program allows users to access mobile coupons and scan QR codes. To further encourage customers to utilize the app, the store has gone one step further and will also offer in store WiFi by the start of the holiday season.
"QR codes will be displayed alongside each of Target's top toys, allowing guests to purchase this year's 20 hottest toys from their mobile phones and have them shipped for free to anyone, anywhere in the U.S.," a Yahoo Finance report read. "QR codes are also now found in the shoe section at Target stores, giving guests another opportunity to easily purchase the shoes they love in the right size and color."
Other options are also being considered, including a location finder that will identify the store that the customer is at and help them navigate their way around.
