Rapper faked own death?, Is rapper Tim Dog dead or just on the lam? Though Tim Dog, born Timothy Blair, reportedly died in February from diabetes-related complications, a woman named Esther Pilgrim has accused the "F--- Compton" artist of faking his own death to avoid making court-ordered repayments to women he scammed.
A private investigator WREG reporter Sabrina Hall hired has been unable to find a death certificate for Blair, nor any official record of the rapper's demise. The original reports of Blair's death are connected to a story in hip-hop magazine The Source at a link that can no longer be found.
On Tuesday, Mississippi prosecutor Steven Jubera obtained arrest warrant for the allegedly deceased artist, Memphis station WREG reports.
"I need proof," Jubera said to WREG. "I need a death certificate showing that he's dead, because as far as I'm concerned, he's alive." Jubera pointed out that none of Blair's obituaries had specifics about his death.
"Nobody said where he died, nobody said where he was buried, which is very odd for an obituary," Jubera continued. At the time of his supposed death, Blair had been paying off $19,000 in restitution to Pilgrim after a 2010 grand larceny conviction. Pilgrim believes that she's not Blair's only victim, but that the rapper scammed millions of dollars from others, convincing women to invest in an album he never planned to record.
Producer and collaboration Cedric "Ced Gee" Miller also told WREG that he has doubts about Tim Dog's death, refusing to speak at the funeral after family members could not produce a death certificate. If he's alive, Jubera notes, Blair will face time in the slammer. At the bare minimum he would get arrested and sit in jail until his court hearing," Jubera said. The Daily News' requests for comment from Blair's family were not immediately returned.
