Army base shooting: One person injured at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, There was one woman injured on Monday, June 10, 2013, in an army base shooting in what many are saying was an argument turned violent. Fort Sam Houston Army Base in San Antonio, TX, was put on lockdown for one hour according to a report from Reuters.
Army officials say the incident happened around 2:50 p.m. local time, and there was just the one injury before the suspected shooter was arrested.
The injured woman is an active duty army member. She was hospitalized, but there were no further details released on her condition. The name of the suspect was also not released, but officials did say that the person was a retired military member.
"It was not a random shooting," San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said.
It appears as if the man got into an argument with the woman, and it escalated from there. There is no word on what started the fight to begin with, but the two had a relationship of some kind.
After the shooting, the suspect sped away and threw his gun out the window of his vehicle before abandoning i on the army post. The shooting had taken place outside of a building used by the Army Medical Center and School.
The suspect was located by a police helicopter and arrested without further incident. Everything is in the hands of the military now.
