Robin Thicke Lands #1 Single: Just Call 2013 The Year Of The Comeback, Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” has hit the top spot on Billboard‘s charts after claiming number one in the UK over a week ago.
The hit has emerged to be Robin Thicke‘s biggest, and first number one hit in the UK and US. Billboard weighed in on Thicke’s big breakout last week when he scored the top spot across the pond, explaining:
” ‘Blurred Lines’ thus easily becomes the biggest single in the U.K. for U.S. soulman Thicke, whose only previous showing was the No. 11 success ‘Lost Without U’ in 2007. It’s also the second chart-topper to feature Williams in three weeks, following his appearance on Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky,’ which dipped 2-3 on the new list.”
Thicke also commented on the first milestone, saying at the time:
“It’s an honour and a pleasure to be number one in the UK. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of and I am so grateful to all the people who made this dream come true.”
Billboard explains that Robin Thicke’s entrance at number one on the Hot 100 is a big achievement for the Canadian R & B singer, and ranks Thicke against other chart entrants this week:
“The song, featuring T.I. and Pharrell, zips 6-1 to become Thicke’s first Hot 100 No. 1. Plus, Ariana Grande returns to the top 10 at a new peak and Miley Cyrus debuts at No. 11 … Robin Thicke scores his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, as ‘Blurred Lines,’ featuring T.I. and Pharrell, vaults 6-1. Ariana Grande and Mac Miller, meanwhile, return to the top 10 each with ‘The Way’ and Miley Cyrus enters at No. 11 with ‘We Can’t Stop.’ ”
