Sarah murnaghan, The miraculous day has finally come for Sarah, who was dying from cystic fibrosis. After finally receiving the healthy lungs she needed from an adult donor list, the 10-year-old is undergoing her life-saving operation.
Sarah Murnaghan, 10, underwent her life-saving lung transplant surgery on the morning of June 12, after she was moved to the adult organ donor list. The precious girl’s family took legal action to have her legally moved and prioritized on the adult donor list after no lungs were available for her on the pediatric organ list.
Sarah Murnaghan’s Lung Transplant Just In Time
Her family confirmed the good news to CNN, and said she was put in surgery on the morning of June 12.
“God is great! He moved the mountain! Sarah got THE CALL,” a statement on her Facebook page read. “Please pray for Sarah’s donor, her HERO, who has given her the gift of life.”
Before her life-saving operation, Sarah’s condition was continuing to worsen as she anxiously waited for a pair of healthy lungs. She had waited on the top of the pediatric donor list for a new set of lungs for months, but there were no lungs available for the little girl.
Sarah Murnaghan Moved To Adult Donor List
As Sarah was suffering from the deadly disease while she was waiting for a new set of lungs, her parents took legal action to move her daughter to the adult donor list. The previous legislation prevented Sarah from being on the adult list because she was too young. The law, which has been in place since 2005, allowed surgery for patients over the age of 12 and could be fixed based on the severity of the illness versus the amount of time on the waiting list.
But on June 5, U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson temporarily lifted the rule because of the severity of Sarah’s illness. She was placed on the adult donor list, and finally got the lungs she deserves!
