Carmelo anthony

Carmelo anthony, After leading the league in scoring and the Knicks to their first Atlantic Division crown in 19 years, Carmelo Anthony made the All-NBA second team.

Anthony averaged 28.7 points and led the Knicks to a 54-28 record. He's the second Knick in three years to make the second team; Amar'e Stoudemire did it for the 2010-11 season. Anthony made the second team in 2009-10 with Denver.

A case could have been made for Anthony as the first Knick to make the first team since Patrick Ewing in 1989-90. But he was competing against league MVP LeBron James and Kevin Durant at forward. Anthony finished a distant third in the voting done by the media.

James was the only player to receive all 119 first-team votes and finished with 595 points. Durant got 102 first-team votes and totaled 555 points. Anthony received 24 first-team votes and 397 points.

Spurs center Tim Duncan, Clippers guard Chris Paul and Lakers guard Kobe Bryant also made the first team. It was Bryant's eighth straight first-team selection and 11th overall, tying him with Karl Malone for the most all-time.
Anthony was joined on the second team by Clippers forward Blake Griffin, Grizzlies center Marc Gasol, Spurs guard Tony Parker and Thunder guard Russell Westbrook.

Warriors forward David Lee, Pacers forward Paul George, Lakers center Dwight Howard, Heat guard Dwyane Wade and Rockets guard James Harden made the third team.
Knicks center Tyson Chandler received 19 points, including one first-team vote, and guard Raymond Felton got three points. Chandler and Anthony made the All-NBA third team last year.

Anthony reportedly played in the Knicks' 12 playoff games with a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder. He will be re-evaluated in three to four weeks to determine whether he needs surgery, the reports indicated. The Knicks haven't commented on the reports or given an injury update on Anthony.

J.R. played with knee pain. J.R. Smith reportedly played with fluid in his left knee during the postseason. It's unclear whether it impacted his shooting or if he will have it drained. The Knicks wouldn't comment on the reports.

The NBA's Sixth Man of the Year had a disappointing postseason, averaging 14.3 points and shooting 33 percent. He is expected to opt out of his contract, which would pay him $2.93 million next season, and become a free agent. The Knicks can pay him the average salary, starting at about $5 million.
