Last minute mother's day gifts

Last minute mother's day gifts, Mother’s Day is Sunday. Yes, this Sunday, May 12. Did you forget to pick up a gift this year? Don’t worry about it. There’s still time to pick up a thoughtful, memorable present even if it’s completely last minute.

ABC News and expert gift-giver and mother Kendra Scott came up with a list of some great last-minute Mother's Day presents the special moms in your life are sure to enjoy.

Scott told ABC News that the first piece of advice she has for people looking for gifts is not to stress out. Being thoughtful doesn’t have to be stressful.

The article lists present ideas that are broken down into seven budget-based categories, ranging from $10 to “splurge.”

A word of advice: If you are planning to order online, you might have to shell out big bucks to make sure it gets to its desired location by Sunday. If that’s not an option, a nice card with an IOU telling the recipient something spectacular is on the way may keep you from getting in (too much) trouble.
Here’s the information from the ABC News report:
$10 Budget

Thoughtful and expensive are two different things. You don’t have to spend $1,000 in order to find a great gift, according to Scott.
"Moms love thoughtful, handmade gifts such as a decorated picture frame with a sweet moment displayed inside, or a hand painted mug or piece of pottery," she said.

One example would be a letterpress-printed Mother's Day card found on Etsy . While a simple, it is also elegant, unique and possibly a one-of-a-kind way to express your appreciation for the mom in your life.
Another idea is picking up a magazine subscription. While not a sexy gift, a magazine subscription is practical and shows you know about your mother’s interests.

"Whether she's into fashion, current events or interior design, get her a magazine subscription and she'll receive a glossy present each month for a year," Scott said.

Scott said another option is planting an inexpensive plant together in her garden to serve as a constant reminder of a lovely memory you shared with her.
"Don't forget, breakfast in bed and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers is always appreciated," she added.
$20 Budget
With a $20, you should consider the person’s interests and find something to compliment that, Scott said.
"If she loves cooking, pick up a fabulous recipe book within your price range. Is she a coffee lover? Stop by a local coffee house and pick up a bag of fresh ground coffee, then visit Anthropologie and pick out a pretty mug to go with it," she suggested of the retail store.

The ABC article lists Harry & David as a great source for budget gifts. For instance, the company sells a number of gift sets, like the Mother's Day Tea Gift with lemon cookies, honey sticks, Earl Gray tea and a stainless steel teaspoon. The retailer has both online and physical locations at area shopping malls.
"Another item you can never go wrong with is a Voluspa candle," Scott said of the luxury candle brand, adding they smell "amazing" and are beautifully packaged.

"Mother's Day is a day to celebrate, so swinging by Whole Foods to pick out a bottle of bubbly Prosecco is a fun way to sit back, reminisce and raise a glass to your amazing mom," she said.
$50 Budget

"You can't go wrong by giving mom a moment to relax and feel pampered with a manicure or pedicure," Scott said.
For $50, you can pick up some great jewelry, which Scott describes as a "foolproof gift.”
While many piece of jewelry are pretty, Scott said you want to make sure it makes her test.

Scott recommends a dainty pendant necklace from her own collection for the mom with a minimalistic and simple style. The stone used in the piece, which retails for $40, can be custom-designed to match your mom's favorite color and "can be worn with everything.”

"For the tech-savvy mom, a colorful iPhone or iPad case is both a practical and fashion-forward way to accessorize an outfit," she added.

Sharper Image sells a countertop yogurt maker for $49.99. The device allows you to control the fat content, sweetness, and thickness -- all through a transparent lid, according to the ABC News report.
$75 Budget

Chocolate-loving moms and their respective families have it easy on Mother's Day. Grocery stores and online shops are brimming with choices 365 days of the year. If you want to ship high-end chocolate in a pinch, you can try luxury Belgian chocolatier Neuhaus Chocolates, which features a "Mom" Luxury Gift Box that includes an assortment of chocolates, some with traditional Belgian "speculoos" biscuit.
The company has stores in six states in the United States, including Washington, D.C., or you can order online .

$100 Budget
As the budget starts to increase so do the options. Department store Kohl's offers a range of products from celebrity designers, including Derek Lam and Vera Wang. The Simply Vera Vera Wang Bombee Convertible Tote can be ordered online.
