Mickey Gilley Club

Mickey Gilley Club, Texas entertainment legend Mickey Gilley is hoping to breathe new life into the former Gilley’s nightclub, once an iconic structure in Pasadena.

Once listed in the "Guinness Book of World Records" as the world’s largest honky-tonk, Gilley’s was known for its usage in the film "Urban Cowboy," starring John Travolta, and as the place that launched Mickey Gilley’s career.
The country music singer is working with Pasadena officials to establish a new Gilley’s, the Houston Chronicle reports.

"Originally Mickey wanted to find an investor he could lease out the name to, but then he decided to do it himself," Jeff McDonald, Gilley’s personal assistant, told the Chronicle.

Gilley intends to open the new location off Red Bluff and Fairmont near the Pasadena Convention Center, the Chronicle reports.

"We are putting a plan together … to rebuild Gilley's in Pasadena, Texas," Gilley said in a Facebook video he posted this week. "We are going to hopefully raise the money to put the club in place."
