Garrett Reid Cause Of Death, It could take several days or even weeks before we know for sure what it was that killed 29-year-old Garrett Reid, the eldest son of Eagles coach Andy Reid.
A forensic pathologist will perform a standard post-mortem exam and standard forensic toxicology tests.
The autopsy itself only takes between 90 minutes and three hours, but Montgomery County Coroner Doctor Walter Hofman, who is not part of this autopsy, says it could take days for the toxicology results to come back.
In the meantime, he says it’s likely a death certificate listing the cause of death as “pending” will be issued to allow the funeral and interment to take place.
“Experience tells most of us, you don’t put down a cause of death until you have all the information. It’s not the same as someone who suddenly dies of coronary heart disease,” Hofman explained.
He says Reid’s history of drug abuse is something that will likely play an important role in determining the cause and manner of death. (Related Story)
Garrett Reid will be laid to rest Tuesday morning. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to the Laurel House – an organization that helps victims of domestic violence.
