Man destroys $423,000 maserati, Owning a car can be infuriating at times, this is something all car-owners are aware of. For one Chinese man, however, having a pristine-looking $423,000 Maserati was just more than he could handle.
A wealthy Chinese man, who so far is known simply as Mr. Wang, was upset with the way his Maserati Quattroporte had been handled by the manufacturer after repeated attempts at repairs. So he decided to ruin it.
Wang hired three men to take sledgehammers to the vehicle and do their best to destroy the car that he purchased for 2.6 million yuan in 2011.
That figure is roughly 100 times more than the average Chinese person makes in a year. The owner decided that the demolition of the car should happen in a high-visibility area, and so chose to do it in front of the Qingdao International Auto Show. A video of the car's demise, which can be seen below, is quickly circulating around the internet.
Wang was upset with the fact that he had paid for new parts to be installed in his Maserati and instead, without his approval, the vehicle received only used parts. He also claims that previous repairs to the vehicle had scratched the surface of the car, and that not all of the issues were even fixed.
According to Wang, Maserati China, the Maserati dealer, and his insurance company are all guilty of fraud. The car's demolition is his hope of bringing attention to the problems he has faced.
"I hope foreign luxury car producers acknowledge clearly that Chinese consumers are entitled to get the service that is commensurate with the brand,"
