Racer 230 mph crash, Racer Chris Matheson is lucky to be alive after surviving a breakneck-speed style motorcycle crash at the 2013 Nitro Champs race recently.
Matheson, driving a solo run in the midst of the semifinals at the Sydney Dragway, got caught by a strong wind that pulled Matheson from his bike and caused him to go tumbling about 100 feet subsequently.
At that time, Matheson was clocked at 230 miles per hour on his bike. Matheson had been struggling with the bike for nearly the entire run and appeared to have finally gotten it under control after going 1,000 feet. But the wind knocked his left hand from the handlebars and then Matheson went flying.
The results could have been fatal, but Matheson escaped with only a broken ankle as a result to the accident, as Dragzine.com reports.
Video of the shocking crash was captured by a spectator. This is hardly Matheson's first go-round in the pro racing circuit, as he is a former three-time Australian National Drag Racing Association Top Bike champion. And Dragzine.com noted that "Matheson has returned from tumbles before."
