Tom brady charity donations, Many football experts feel there is little doubt he will end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day, after he retires. He has led his team to three Super Bowl championships. He has twice been named Super Bowl MVP. Some have said he is one of the best quarterbacks under pressure.
What many may not know about New England quarterback Tom Brady, however, is the way he has helped others through various charities, including fighting hunger in Africa, helping a charity of his teammates which provides sports equipment to those with physical disabilities, and others. Although he does not have a charity of his own, he has certainly been busy in helping others.
In helping two charities, Tom Brady went on an eight day trip to Ghana and Uganda on a trip sponsored by DATA (debt AIDS trade Africa) and One.org. He visited health clinics, schools, and other projects. His goal was to fight extreme poverty in Africa.
He has said he has learned that Americans can help Africans affected by AIDS with something as simple as a 25 cent pill. As a result of the trip, he has been actively involved in encouraging Americans to lobby Congress for a 1% increase in humanitarian aid to the developing word.
Another charity Tom Brady has been involved with is the Active Force Foundation, along with teammates Lawyer Milloy, Joe Andruzzi and Lonie Paxton. The charity is involved in designing and engineering sports equipment that will allow those with disabilities to live a more healthy and active way of living. The charity is currently working on the development of a downhill motorbike for the disabled athlete.
One reason the charity was founded was the experiences of another founder, Brook Duquesnel, who was injured in a snowmobiling accident. Although he was able to purchase a mountain bike and ride it competively in Japan, the United States, and Canada, despite being paralyzed from the waist down, he was not satisfied with the quality of equipment available for disabled athletes. He and Lonie founded the charity to manufacture sports equipment for the disabled athlete at little or no cost to the athlete.
Another charity Tom Brady has been involved with is the Starlight Children's Foundation of New England. The Foundation helps seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.
The Foundation uses a variety of programs. Just of the few of the many programs that are used to help seriously ill children include: The Starlight Starbright Entertainment Troupe, which entertains seriously ill children; parties at local hospitals; fun centers at hospitals that provide televisions to watch, Nintendo games to play, as well as DVD players; and a variety of others.
While Tom Brady may be best known for his football abilities, a lot of people also know how he has helped New England residents through various charities.
