Smash canceled, The curtains have dropped on Smash. For good. NBC has officially canceled the musical drama after two seasons.
The series, which stars Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty, will bow out on Sunday, May 26 with a special two-hour finale.
Smash's cancelation shouldn't come as much a surprise, given NBC's recent decision to move the show's original episodes to Saturday night. The series then hit all-time low ratings (1.88 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the demo).
Despite all of that, Smash still had a loyal following, which helped it to win our 2013 Save One Show campaign. (Sorry people, we're not miracle workers, but we can predict the weather!)
"We're thrilled and honored to win Save One Show," showrunner Joshua Safran, who replaced creator Theresa Rebeck after season one, told us afterwinning the annual tournament. "We love our fans and are extremely grateful for their incredible support!"
