Brandon browner jim harbaugh, The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers were the top two teams in the NFC West last season. It appears the rivalry is starting to heat up after Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner responded to comments made by 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Harbaugh's remarks clearly didn't sit well with Browner, who was suspended last season for violating the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy. Nick Eaton of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer provided the cornerback's response when asked about what Harbaugh had to say during a radio interview.
Said Browner, "At the end of the day we gotta win football games. He’s a coach. He’s never gonna be out there lined up against me. I wish he would; I’d put my hands around his neck. At the end of the day, I’m about winning football games."
Earlier in the week, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area passed along comments from Harbaugh, who was asked about the Seahawks' PED suspensions and replied he "definitely noticed it."
He continued: "You don't know what it is. I mean, even when people say what it is, you don't know that's what it is. It's this thrown out or it's that. But that's usually the agents or the players themselves saying, for example, Adderall. The NFL doesn't release what it actually is. You have no idea. You're taking somebody at their word and I'm not sure you can take them at their word, understanding the circumstances."
He went on to talk about playing by the NFL's current rules and how outsiders view the situation: "It has no place in an athlete's body. Play by the rules and you always want to be above reproach, especially when you're good because you don't want people to come back and say, 'They're winning because they're cheating.' That's always going to be a knee-jerk reaction from people I've found in my experience every since I was a little kid."
There's clearly no love lost between these two teams. Browner certainly made his feelings clear, and it should make an already exciting rivalry even more combustible.
The divisional foes are set to square off in Week 2 at Seattle and in Week 14 at San Francisco.
