Chris christie crosses aisle, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie continued his bipartisan buddy tour on Friday when he sat down with former President Bill Clinton to promote the need to plan for natural disasters.
“The enduring image most Americans have of you is standing there in your jacket, grieving with people, working with them, working with the President,” Clinton told the Republican governor.
“You got both praise and damnation for ignoring political differences,” the former president continued about Christie’s controversial decision to appear with President Obama just days before last fall’s election.
He ruffled GOP feathers again this week when he chose to attend the Clinton Global Initiative in Chicago rather than join prominent conservatives at the Faith and Freedom Conference in Washington.
Christie has steadfastly defended his decisions to cross the aisle, saying they are in the best interest of his state.
“[Disaster readiness] is one of those things where regardless of where you fall on the ideological spectrum, you would agree this is government’s responsibility,” he told Clinton
