Monica Say had open bottle of rum in diaper bag, West Hennepin, Minn (The Weekly Vice) - Monica Say, a 30-year-old Minnesota woman was arrested Thursday after she led police on a drunken high speed chase with two kids in the car - officers later recovered an open bottle of booze in a diaper bag inside the car.
According to West Hennepin police, officers were dispatched after receiving a report of an erratic driver in a Buick Regal.
When officers caught up to Say's vehicle, they attempted to pull her over after she had committed a number of traffic offenses.
Investigators say the officer activated the emergency lights in an attempt to get Say to pull over, however she fled the scene - nearly hitting several vehicles in the process. Say reportedly drove another 4 1/2 miles before finally stopping her vehicle.
When the officer approached the window, he discovered a fully sloshed Say behind the wheel and two children in the back seat.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, the officer found marijuana in the front seat and an open bottle of rum that was located in her younger son's diaper bag. After failing a field sobriety test, Say was given a breath test that showed a reading of 0.217 - nearly three times the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle in Minnesota.
"The important fact in this case is that someone took the time to call the driving complaint in, gave us good information and a vehicle description," said Public Safety Dir. Ray McCoy. "That probably saved the lives of the public and the innocent children in her car and prevented her from being involved in something even more serious."
Say was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on charges of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, child endangerment and driving while impaired. Bond information was unavailable.
