George lucas net worth, George Lucas is best known as the guy behind Star Wars but going forward, he’d like to be known for his philanthropy. The mogul has vowed to donate most of the money coming from Disney’s $4 billion purchase of his company, Lucasfilm, to charity.
“For 41 years, the majority of my time and money has been put into the company,” said Lucas in a statement. “As I start a new chapter in my life, it is gratifying that I have the opportunity to devote more time and resources to philanthropy.”

Lucas has always had a strong philanthropic bent. In 2006 he donated $175 million to his alma mater, USC. In 2010 he took The Giving Pledge to donate most of his fortune to philanthropy. Lucas has always focused on education.
In addition to his USC donation, Lucas’ foundation runs Edutopia, a web site that helps teachers learn from best practices.
