Mom Accused of fighting bully, A West Philadelphia woman was locked up earlier this week for allegedly assaulting a child inside A.B. Anderson Elementary School.
Police said the bizarre tale started to unfold as parents dropped their kids off Thursday morning at the school, at 60th Street and Cobbs Creek Parkway.
Atiff Brown, 27, allegedly confronted an 11-year-old girl whom she believed had been arguing with her daughter, said Lt. John Walker, of Southwest Detectives.
Walker said Brown allegedly threatened the girl and her family, and raised her hand in the air in a threatening manner.
The girl struck Brown, and a teacher and a teacher's aide stepped in to separate the two.
Brown, who lives near the school on 60th Street, was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and defiant trespass.
"She's a mother. She should be teaching her child right from wrong and how to resolve a conflict," Walker said. "Instead, she went against all of the moral standards of society and tried to challenge a child."
In an interview with NBC 10, Brown denied assaulting the 11-year-old.
School officials were expected to turn video footage of the encounter over to police.
