UCLA proposal girl ran away, A budding groom-to-be’s very public marriage proposal went horribly wrong when he was snubbed in front of a crowd of basketball fans.
The lovestruck man chose the big screen at a UCLA game to pop the question to his unsuspecting girlfriend – who then rejected his proposal and ran away.
The couple were caught on the “mistletoe cam” at the basketball game in California when the man went down on one knee.
In front of a crowded court he said: “I knew I was going to do this the first day I met you, so I know this is going to sound corny but… will you marry me?”
But, instead of saying ‘Yes’ and jumping into his arms, the mortified girlfriend took one look at the ring, and shook her head as she seemed to ask “Is this a joke?”
The devastated boyfriend was left on his knees, wiping his eyes, as his love grabbed her bag and left.
To add insult to injury, the crowds booed and jeered as the embarrassing scene played out in front of them.
The commentator attempted to relieve the awkward situation by saying: “Sometimes people get a little camera shy, I understand. It happens.”
The rejected lover eventually scooped himself up and hurried away from the game but not before the failed proposal was caught on camera.
It was uploaded to YouTube where it has been viewed by more than 42,000 people.
After watching the footage, UCLA basketball player Jerime Anderson reportedly said "That's cold", while team-mate David Wear added "Tough Break".
