Sodus boat crash

Sodus boat crash, A Sodus Bay boat crash has led to a teenager being arrested and charged with boating while intoxicated.

The teen, Tyler Ocwieja, crashed his boat into the breakwall at Sodus Bay following yesterday's Fourth of July fireworks display in the area.

According to CNN, the teen was driving the boat after the fireworks celebration for Independence Day, when he slammed the boat into a concrete breakwall, injuring several of his friends who were on board with him.

According to the Henrietta Post, all three passengers were thrown out of the boat in the crash, and they flew over the breakwall and into Lake Ontario.

Reports have stated that one of the passengers suffered a bad ankle injury and had to be rushed to the hospital, where as the other two suffered more minor injuries.

The teenage driver was charged by authorities for driving at more than 5 miles per hour within 100 feet of the shore, which is against boating regulations in the area.

Ocwieja has been charged with reckless endangerment, reckless operation of a vessel, and boating while intoxicated.
The teen has been released following the arrest, but he will have to return to Sodus Bay to have the charges filed against him at a later date.

The incident took place as a number of other accidents occurred throughout the country during Fourth of July celebrations.

In California more than 20 people were injured in a fireworks display that went terribly wrong. In that incident the fireworks display tipped over and shot numerous fireworks into the panicking crowd.
In yet another incident a father ran over and killed his 8 year old son after the child was knocked off of a parade float, falling under the vehicle.
