Vancouver shooting spree

Vancouver shooting spree, A man who was shot in his home during a Vancouver crime spree, which ended with police shooting and killing a teen suspect, was arrested along with his wife Friday.

It all started on January 25 when 16-year-old Doug Combs reportedly shot William Toohey, 48, in Toohey’s home.
Combs was then suspected of holding up two convenience stores at gunpoint. Arriving officers shot and killed Combs after he reportedly reached for a gun while running away from police.

Detectives obtained a warrant and searched the home of Toohey and his wife, 51-year-old Cora Whitebird, after learning Combs was their neighbor and knew them, said Sgt. Kevin Allais with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

In the home, police found a camera, rifle and laptop that had been stolen during a series of home burglaries. Detectives also found marijuana, a scale and packaging material, Allais said.

Detectives originally investigated the incident as a home invasion, but later said they did not believe Toohey was shot in a “random act of violence,” Allais said.
Detectives also learned Toohey had accidentally fired a bullet into a neighbor’s home sometime before he was shot by Combs, Allais said.

Toohey was charged with series of crimes including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, reckless endangerment, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of stolen property.
Whitebird was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and possession of stolen property.
