Barbara walters daughter arrested, Barbara Walters' daughter has been popped for driving under the influence in Naples, Fla., E! News confirms.
Jacqueline Walters Danforth was taken into custody around 1:30 a.m. Sunday for a misdemeanor DUI offense involving alcohol or drugs.
According to the police report, officers responded to a call of an SUV parked on highway I-75 in the center lane, nearly causing other vehicles to nearly smash into the back of the vehicle.
After they initiated a traffic stop, cops suspected the 44-year-old female driver, Danforth, and her male passenger appeared intoxicated.
Per the report, after police helped the passenger out of the car and handcuffed him so he wouldn't stumble into traffic, Jacqueline allegedly stepped out of the vehicle and began shouting at the officers, forcing them to cuff her as well so she wouldn't stray on the highway.
After Danforth refused to take a field sobriety test, she was placed under arrest. A Breathalyzer later revealed she had 0.218, well above the Sunshine state's legal limit. She was booked, then released a few hours later after posting a $1,000 bail.
But the legendary journalist previously revealed in her memoir that Danforth—whom she adopted in 1968 while married to her second husband, Lee Guber—had struggled with substance abuse in her teens and even ran away from home at one point. Things got so bad that Walters was forced to send Jacqueline away to an intervention program in Idaho to help her get clean.
An arraignment date in Danforth's case is scheduled for June 12.
