Mariah carey hospitalized, Mariah Carey may be beautiful, but the set of her new music video was anything but.
The pop diva was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after she dislocated her shoulder while filming a video for the remix of her hit “#Beautiful.”
“Mariah was injured while filming a video for the remix of ‘#Beautiful,’ directed by her husband Nick Cannon,” her rep said in a statment. “She was taken to hospital late [Sunday] night, where doctors reset her shoulder. She is fine and is recovering at home.”
While on the Today show Tuesday morning, Cannon revealed the details of his wife’s on-set injury.
“It was pretty serious,” he said. “Not only did she dislocate her shoulder, she actually cracked a rib and … she chipped her shoulder bone.”
“She was in this nice, beautiful gown, heels on and everything, and was kind of on this platform and reached and slipped and fell on her whole side,” he said.
“I was going to rush to the hospital with her, (but she said,) ‘You get back in there and finish that video!’ Then, after they put (her) shoulder back in place, bandaged her all up, she came back to the video early in the morning and finished out everything,” he added.
Despite her injury, Carey is still set to perform a free concert Saturday with the New York Philharmonic on Central Park’s Great Lawn for the 2013 MLB All-Star Charity Concert, which will benefit Superstorm Sandy victims.
“#Beautiful,” which Carey originally recorded with Miguel, is the lead single for her upcoming album The Art of Letting Go, which is set for release later this year.
As for Cannon, in addition to his hosting gig on America’s Got Talent, he’s also gearing up for the return of his improve comedy show, Wild ‘N Out, after a six-year hiatus.
And despite their hectic schedules, the superstar couple’s two-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe take center stage.
“Family comes first. That’s really what it is, and then everything else kind of works around that,” he told parade.com in 2012. “As long as we prioritize and make sure our kids and each other are first, then our occupations come after that, even though we’re extremely busy. We take the time out to make sure we focus on each other when we need to.
