Lambert on Idol, Nothing could be trickier for Season 13 of American Idol than having a new set of judges for the reality show. And an even smarter move for the Idol officials is having their own produced artists to sit on the panel after Randy Jackson announced he’s not coming back next season. Idol alumna, Jennifer Hudson has been confirmed as its first new judge.
Like Angie Miller, Hudson came out third and second runner up on Season 3 of American Idol but she is considered one of the best examples of a non-winning Idol who had better careers than those crowned the coveted title.
But she never stopped since she was eliminated on Top 3 final on Idol. She went to find her own stars and she did very well for herself. Jennifer Hudson is the only Idol finalist with Oscar title to her name, after winning Best Supporting Actress award for her role as Effie White in Dreamgirls (2006). The role also earned her three more awards: a Golden Globe award, a BAFTA award and a SAG award.
But acting is not the only thing that Jennifer has embarked on. She has not forgotten her passion in singing and she continued to make a name for herself in the music industry. Jennifer already won Grammy award when she debuted her album in 2008.
With the very-disappointing ratings Idol had on Season 12, the show’s officials thought it might be a good idea to shake things up on the reality show and have some changes introduced next season. And having Jennifer on the show as one of its judges would do the show good, and it will help officials counter critics of the increasing negative perception the show has been raking in.
With Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban as Season 12 judges, the show’s ratings reached its all-time low on Top 7 final episode. Viewers had taken to social media to take a jab at the judges, particularly Nicki Minaj who managed to irate everyone with her attitude and perennial tardiness (especially during the live show performances).
Jennifer Hudson will also help the show’s officials prove that American Idol is the only reality television shows that can actually produced big stars and music artists in the entertainment industry!
Rumored to join Jennifer Hudson are other alumni Albert Lambert and Kelly Clarkson. They are reported to be in talks to come on Season 13 of American Idol.
