Drunk governor: After manhunt 'quite drunk', Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick said that he got "quite drunk" after Boston Marathon Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured. He told this to employees of HubSpot in a conversation in Boston on Wednesday. According to the Associated Press on June 6, 2013, he was in a restaurant near his rural home at the time.
"Gov. Deval Patrick went to his rural home the day after the surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect was captured and got ''quite drunk'' alone in a restaurant, he said during a candid conversation at a Boston area marketing firm."
At the restaurant Rouge in West Stockbridge he had dinner alone. By the end of the meal the drunk governor, "wasn't tipsy" according co-owner Maggie Merelle. She was happy to host and feed the governor.
At the end of the meal the now drunk governor said that he could not pay for the tab now, but would return the next day to take care of it. Merelle confirmed that he did indeed pay up after.
After all that occurred leading up to the dinner a "drunk governor" should be the least of one's worries. It sounds like he was well behaved and taken care of. The incident would never have been known except for the sharing of what was described as a "candid conversation".
