Tebow rumors

Tim Tebow has no NFL job and his career may be over according to an article in ESPN The Magazine that says many in the quarterback's camp have been admitting to each other privately that he is likely done in the big leagues after still going unsigned after the Jets released him.

According to Pro Football Talk, the report says that members of his camp think his career is over and some scouts have said that even when he played well in Denver, he didn't show that he could do enough to play consistently in the NFL. Tebow is finally off of the New York Jets roster despite the fact that the team wanted to trade or release him during, before or after the NFL draft and even though they never found a trade partner, there are many teams where Tebow would fit right in now that he is released, including the New England Patriots.

The move could be mutually beneficial for Tebow and the team, as the Patriots could add a player that they actually could figure out how to use, unlike the Jets, who completely wasted Tebow last season after trading picks for him. Instead of putting him in spots where he could succeed, the Jets seemed to bring him in at random and mostly used him as a decoy and a special teams player.

Sure, Tebow has a funny throwing motion and isn't the deepest passer in the world, but why should someone like Mark Sanchez, Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder and Josh Freeman continue to start while struggling, but Tebow can't get a chance? A number of quarterbacks changed teams this offseason that had far less success than Tebow, including Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kevin Kolb and Colt McCoy, none of whom led their team to a division title and a playoff win like Tebow did with the Denver Broncos.

The Jets wasted a great talent in Tebow, which he showed in Denver with his comeback wins, and they could do him a favor by sending him to the New England Patriots, who now have Tebow's former coach that drafted him in Josh McDaniels who actually should be able to use him successfully. The Patriots had Ryan Mallett as Tom Brady's backup and while he could have been a solid option, Tebow could be even better, as he would not challenge to start and Bill Belichik could use him in good ways.

Tebow was a good soldier for most of the year, which would help him going forward, and now that the Jets have offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg in the fold, he would have had less chances to play with Sanchez, McElroy and David Garrard (now retired) ahead of him. Von Miller, Tebow's teammate in Denver, said that the Patriots could handle the Tebow spectacle better than most teams and they could like the way he handles comebacks in the fourth quarter, like he did in Denver.

Tebow has a distinct set of skills and no one is better at getting the most out of players than Belichick is and he could do it again. Tebow is a hard worker and he could be the type of player that the Patriots would love. He is a winner and took his high school and college teams to championships and he would fit perfectly with the Patriots.
