Bombs in teen bedroom: Columbine-like plan foiled with tip of teen bomb making, Bombs in a teen's bedroom, along with a Columbine inspired plan that consisted of school diagrams were just a few of the things found under a teen's bedroom floorboards. According to “Fox and Friends Weekend” live on May 26, 2013, a 17-year-old West Albany High School student had every intention of turning his school into a Columbine-like event, but thankfully someone came forward and alerted authorities.
According to the Inquistr on Sunday, Grant Acord had a vast array of pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails and a napalm bomb hidden at the home that he shared with his mother in Albany, Oregon. Police found everything from checklists to dates and timelines for what this teen was planning to do. The teen lives with his mother and all these things that were stored under the floor of his bedroom were highly explosive and dangerous.
The Oregon State Police's Explosive Unit removed the bombs from the teen's bedroom after a search warrant was secured for the mother's home. Police say it was “a tip” that they received on Thursday that led them to this teen and his home. They would not elaborate on how they got this tip or who it was that came forward, but that person is a true American hero today as Acord's plan was serious and elaborate.
The school was also searched, but nothing was found. Acord was taken into custody and the Oregon district attorney has already decided that he will be charged as an adult in this crime. Acord will be charged with attempted murder, along with other charges.
The DA reports that they don't believe that Acord was targeting a specific group or individual with this plan. “I can’t say enough about how lucky we are that there was an intervention. When I look at the evidence in the case, I shudder to think of what could have happened here," said District Attorney John Haroldson.
Students who attend high school with Acord were shocked to hear the elaborate plan the teen had concocted. This was not someone that was considered a troubled student. Authorities are not aware of Acord having any trouble at the school.
