Notre Dame QB leaves, 'academic violation' rumored as reason, A Notre Dame QB leaves the football team after playing on the team just one season. Everett Golson will no longer be with the team, but an official reason was not given for his departure.
According to a May 26 report by ESPN, Golson's enrollment at the school has ended.
"Everett is not enrolled at the university. Federal law and our own polices preclude us from discussing specifics," spokesman Dennis Brown wrote in an email Saturday.
As the report revealed, two sources who spoke with the Chicago Tribune claimed the Notre Dame QB left due to "academic violations."
Golson led the Fighting Irish to an undefeated 2012 season and took their team to the BCS Championship.
It's unknown who will take over as the Notre QB quarterback. This leaves a big question in everyone's mind for the team. There is speculation that senior Tommy Rees could take over the position since he performed spot duties for Golson when he was struggling, Inquisitr reports.
Everett Golson joins the ranks of Joe Theismann (1970) and Jarious Jackson (1999) as being the only quarterbacks to pass more than 2,000 yards and rush over 300 in a single season in Notre Dame's history.
