Deanna Ballman: Drug addled prostitute or murder victim?,On May 26, 2013 numerous reports including this News 24 article shared new updates in the Deanna Ballman case. Dr. Ali Salim has been officially charged with her murder, but he has made shocking claims that may have at least some degree of truth to them.
While he's being charged with the murders of the once-missing woman and her unborn child, it's quite possible that her death wasn't necessarily a malicious homicide. At least, that's if you believe the guy.
Investigators have already confirmed that Ballman wasn't necessarily responding to "housekeeping ads" as she had told her family. As it turns out, she was possibly prostituting herself out to help fund a drug habit -- or at the least to support her clutch of children. She responded to at least one ad, one of them seeking "a woman who is pregnant and horny as hell."
Dr. Ali Salim's lawyer says that her drug overdose was an unfortunate result of her preexisting drug addiction. He alleges that she was simply an "unfortunate victim" after hooking to feed her drug habits. He said the following:
"Regrettably, she caused her own demise and Dr. Salim had nothing to do with it."
The prosecutor in the case doesn't seem to sure of himself, to be quite honest. He admits that she "knew what she was responding to," when going to Ali's home after answering his advertisement. However, he says that there is no proof of her being a drug addict, and he doesn't think she "knew she was going to be overdosed with heroin and subsequently die."
Deanna Ballman left behind children who are now reportedly in foster care in Colo., which is confusing to say the least. Their father is also in Colo., so there is question as to why he doesn't have them. What's certain is that they're now going to grow up without a mother who may have either suffered an accidental heroin overdose -- while pregnant -- or was callously murdered.
